If you've created a website before, you've probably heard the term FTP or FTP Client. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and it's used to move files from your desktop to your web hosting account or vice versa.
To begin, let's look at a few of the benefits of using an FTP Client instead of cPanel's File Manager.
Easier to transfer large files
If you're doing any coding or wanting to move any image and/or audio files to your web hosting account, FTP will help speed up the process and will decrease the risk of uploading corrupted files.
Pick up where you left off
If your connection drops off in the middle of a transfer, you don't need to start over.
Create multiple FTP accounts
If you need to give a developer temporary access to your server or to a specific folder, you can create an FTP account and give them restricted access.
Additional benefits include a better user interface and often a quicker way of logging in and editing files vs. opening cPanel and File Manager.
